My Story
Hi, I’m Alexia. I’m a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapist and Counsellor, with a passion for helping people overcome challenges, and unlock their full potential. I studied Psychology at University, and after graduating I worked for a Community Mental Health Team in Berkshire UK, before travelling in Australia and Malaysia for 2 years. On my return to the UK in 2001, I got married, started a family, and decided to train as a Clinical Hypnotherapist (this came after a positive experience with Hypnotherapy myself). I gained my Certificate, Diploma, and Post-Graduate Practitioner's Diploma from the London College of Hypnosis (LCCH), and I have been a proud member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH) since 2006, as well as the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) since 2009. For 20 years, I have managed therapy practices in Exeter, Barnstaple, and Tiverton, Devon UK.

In 2015, I expanded my professional skills by completing a Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling, with the Human Givens Institute. I became a Trauma-Informed Therapist and have worked with the emergency services, through The Red Poppy Company, providing trauma support for the last 10 years.

During the pandemic, I transitioned to also working online, which opened incredible opportunities to work with clients from all around the world. This flexible approach has allowed me to travel between the UK, Cyprus and Egypt. Having faced a serious illness myself in 2023, I believe now more than ever in making the most of life. My goal is to support others in living fully and embracing their best selves, no matter where they are in their journey.

I work with clients who have a variety of problems including trauma (including PTSD and CPTSD), anxiety, phobias, addictions, habits, depression and confidence issues. In my sessions I combine Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy, with techniques from the Human Givens, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Somatic Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I’m a trained practitioner of EMDR and the Rewind Technique; both ground-breaking techniques used in the treatment of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I love learning, and my most recent 18-month training was on Somatic Therapy. Somatic Therapy focuses on embodied awareness and helps regulate the nervous system—this compliments the mind work I already do, by also incorporating the body (soma).

I have an affinity for working with Neuro-divergent clients of all ages. I have helped many clients who had previously been undiagnosed go through the assessment process and then integrate a diagnosis of ADHD, ADD or ASD into their lives (and their family’s lives too). My work also helps deal with issues around confidence and self-esteem, and school-based trauma.

I have trained in Women’s issues around fertility and menstrual health with Sjanie Hugo, a fertility expert, and co-author of Wild Power and The Fertile Body Method. I have completed the NCHP ‘Hypnosis for Childbirth’, Practitioner’s Specialist Certification Course, with Sharon Mustard, of Easibirthing. And my exploration into the Feminine has recently led me to complete a nine-month training with Heather Ensworth Ph.D, on Sacred Feminine Wisdom.

I also offer Psychotherapy/Counselling services and Hypnotherapy sessions direct to organisations. I have worked with Devon & Cornwall Police, South West Ambulance Trust, Devon Air Ambulance, Avon Fire, Ted Wragg Academy Trust, Devon County Council, Exeter City Council, North Devon Council, The Red Poppy Company, Bitpod, North Devon Housing, United Response, Eat That Frog, and ROC College.
